AVA Art Gallery and Art Center

Beginning Glass-Fusing Workshop
10:00am-4:00pm
One-day workshop
Tuition: $120 /members; $140 /non-members

$25 materials fee included.
Students will learn the basics of glass fusing using a portable glass kiln! This exciting tool cuts the firing and cooling process from up to twelve hours down to less than thre hours. The focus will be on glass-cutting techniques, design, and firing schedules. Make jewelry, small tiles and other beautiful objects in your first class! No experience required.
Intermediate Glass-Fusing Techniques
6:00-9:00pm
Six 3-hour classes
Tuition: $350 /members; $370 /non-members
Class limited to 8.
$100 materials fee included. Prerequisite: Beginning Glass Fusing
"Glass Fusing" is just the tip of the iceberg! In this six-week course, students will explore several kiln-forming techniques, including fusing, slumping, surface design, texturing and copper inclusions. To ensure success, the instructor will cover the processes involved in kiln firing, including safety, glass compatibility, proper design and mold selection.
"Green" Glass — Kiln Forming with Recycled Glass

Join the green-glass movement and transform ordinary plate glass, bottles, and found objects into one-of-a-kind treasures. Classes will focus on surface decoration, metal inclusion, and texture to make the ordinary extraordinary!

Dichroic Glass Jewelry

Prerequisite: Beginning Glass Fusing.
Ever wonder what makes dichroic glass jewelry so dazzling (and expensive)? This amazing glass, which reflects one or more colors and transmits others, is exciting to work with in jewelry creation. In this class, you will learn to use dichroic glass to make unique fused cabochons and matching earrings. Then, you will learn to wire-wrap the cabochons using beginning to intermediate wire-wrapping skills.
Fused-Glass Landscapes
9:00am - 5:00pm
One-day workshop
Tuition: $125 /members; $145 /non-members
$25.00 materials fee included.
Limited to 8 participants.
Prerequisite: Beginning Glass Fusing
In this course, students will work from a favorite landscape photo (or painting) to create a fused-glass artwork worthy of a fine art exhibition! Plate glass and crushed and powdered glass will all be used to build depth and relief into a tile suitable for framing. Mounting and hanging options will also be discussed.
